Charles M. Auslander

Charles M. Auslander is a highly experienced attorney who has engaged in appellate practice during most of his legal career, which includes holding public positions as lead administrator and executive director of two government agencies. His appellate practice has encompassed all state and federal courts particularly in Florida, with occasional practice before other federal circuit courts of appeal.

In a career that spans more than 30 years, Mr. Auslander has more than 100 reported decisions in state and federal courts. His notable cases include a 1989 success before the Supreme Court of Florida that clarified the scope of the contemporary arbitration code with respect to enforcement of erroneous legal determinations. He also won a unanimous reversal years later before the Supreme Court of Florida that resulted in a modification of state law to adopt federal forum non conveniens standards.

Mr. Auslander has prevailed in numerous state and federal commercial appeals. He has also prevailed in a number of pro bono matters supporting children’s rights, including most recently the appeal that resulted in the state’s gay adoption ban being declared unconstitutional.

Mr. Auslander earned his law degree from George Washington University, and spent more than a decade with national law firm Greenberg Traurig before joining The Children’s Trust as president and CEO. The Children’s Trust is a key funder of children’s services in Miami-Dade County and a leader in statewide public policy relating to children and families.

After returning to private practice, Mr. Auslander represented many adolescents transitioning from dependency to independent living. He continues to serve on the Miami-Dade Community Based Care Alliance and previously served on several not-for-profit boards.
